CREATIVE SERVICES INTERN

(Unpaid)
SLCVC - Marketing Division

QUALIFICATIONS

The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission (SLCVC) seeks to recruit an intern for Fall 2010 to work in the Creative Services Department. A major or background in graphic design is preferred. Must maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled in a related academic program. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite 4 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc) is required. Must possess an enthusiasm about the hospitality field and be a team player. Prior graphic design experience is beneficial. Candidates must provide a portfolio upon selection for an interview.

TIME COMMITMENT

Work approximately 15 - 30 hours weekly - weekday mornings or afternoons. Hours of work are flexible depending on the student’s schedule and availability. Learning experience will be acquired by working during business hours with in-house professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Intern will perform the following:

  • Assist with photo shoots
  • Work on final print file production
  • Design and layout of projects to be printed
  • Aid in miscellaneous graphic projects (i.e. Visitors Guide, Holiday Magic Campaign, etc)
  • Participate in meetings as assigned
  • Assist with other projects as assigned

OPERATIONS INTERN

SLCVC/America’s Center - Facilities Division

QUALIFICATIONS

The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission (SLCVC) seeks to recruit an intern for Summer 2010 to work in the Operations Department. A major or a mechanical background in HVAC/Refrigeration, is required. Must maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled in a related academic program. Excellent interpersonal skills are critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications and Operations Database Systems are preferred. Must possess an enthusiasm about the hospitality field and be a team player. Prior operations/electrical experience are beneficial, must be willing to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Must have ability to climb stairs, possibly ladders, and venturing into mechanical areas.

TIME COMMITMENT

Work approximately 10-15 hours weekly - weekday mornings or afternoons, summer (June – August). Hours of work are flexible depending on the student’s schedule and availability. Learning experience will be acquired by working during business hours with in-house Operations staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Intern will perform the following:

  • Entering information into Operations Database System (CMMS)
  • Knowledge and ability to operate Chillers, HVAC Units, Boilers, etc
  • Working with Operations Admin Asst. & Quality Control Manager on projects
  • Opportunity to shadow the daily functions of our Operations Department including Maintenance, Electricians, Painters/Carpenters

GUEST SERVICES INTERN

QUALIFICATIONS

The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission (SLCVC) seeks to recruit an intern for Summer 2010 to work in the Guest Services/Public Safety Department. Must maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled in a related academic program. Excellent interpersonal skills are critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, ability to operate office machines (i.e. copy machines). Must possess an enthusiasm about the hospitality field and be a team player. Prior customer service/office/clerical experience is beneficial, must be willing to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

TIME COMMITMENT

Work approximately 5-10 hours weekly - weekday mornings or afternoons, summer (June – August). Hours of work are flexible depending on the student’s schedule and availability. Learning experience will be acquired by working during business hours with in-house Guest Services/Public Safety staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Intern will perform the following:

  • Attend necessary meetings & Pre-Cons
  • Review required event documents
  • Copy & mail event literature/schedules
  • Make phone calls as needed
  • Opportunity to shadow large events & conferences from a Guest Services Perspective
